Glorious food in Nice
Restaurants worth visiting if you’re looking for great food, service and value for your money.
Artichokes and much more
Olive & Artichaut (Olive & Artichoke) focuses on meals with high quality, local ingredients. And yes, you will probably be served a tangy bowl of olives and have an artichoke mousse dabbed on your plate. It’s not a big restaurant and it fills up quickly so book a table. If you don’t get in at dinner you may have better luck at its more spacious sister restaurant, Citrus, across the street.
When in Nice, eat Italian!
The Italian influence is evident in Nice, which is so close to Italy, and there are many places where you can enjoy genuine Italian food. Via Latina is a good example of this. In addition to offering takeaway with mouth-watering cheeses, olives and salamis, they serve great lunches in the shop’s city chic restaurant. The staff is passionate over their daily specials. You will be too.
Danish cooking in Nice
The interior of Pure & V is pure Scandinavian and the food prepared by its Danish chef is purely divine. Pure & V is situated in the quiet, more residential area of Fleurs, yet close to the Promenade des Anglais.
Innovative dishes
Wondering where to go on a Monday when everything is closed? Saved by L’eau de vie! They offer surprising combinations that work exceptionally well, such as veal breast confit with a parsnip and vanilla puree, or calamari with quinoa and pomegranates. Combine it with a regional wine or a Blue Coast beer from the local brewery.
Veggie time
Nice has plenty of vegetarian and vegan cafes and restaurants, but many of them, including Badaboom, are only open during the day. Located off of rue Bonaparte, it offers a wide variety of healthy juices, smoothies and hot drinks, as well as salads, snacks or a daily special. Badaboom also serves artisanal beer and organic wine – it’s France after all.
Handled with extra care
These three friends care not only about what they cook, but also about how they serve and present their wonderful creations. A meal at Les Agitateurs will leave you yearning to return for more of their fresh, inventive dishes.
Lively eats in the old city
There’s a jumble of tables and bric-a-brac at this crowded old town restaurant, where there’s always plenty of action. Comptoir du Marché has a chalkboard of daily specials that varies according to what’s fresh at the market. You may have to wait for a table, but it will be worth it.
