Modern Taste Experiences in Malaga
Natural wine, fine dining and Swedish fika.
Devrim Varhos and Dilan Leijon have run the incredibly popular Dynamit restaurant in central Malaga since 2020. They got the idea for Dynamit during a trip to the city, when they noticed it was hard to find good food that was a bit different to the traditional Spanish and Andalusian cuisine. The result was Dynamit – a unique restaurant with a small menu of carefully selected, high-quality produce. The two restaurateurs share their top restaurant tips in and around Malaga with Scandinavian Traveler.
Malaga’s best cocktail bar
Chester & Punk
“Chester & Punk cocktail bar has a great atmosphere, a wonderful mix of people, and ambitious cocktails presented in a completely unique way. Here you drink your cocktails from handmade ceramic glasses with different designs – and the staff are really friendly.”
Natural wine on the menu
Anyway Wine Bar
“Anyway Wine Bar is a small, traditional wine bar – in a completely new guise. Anyway has recently relocated close to Malaga harbor and serves a wide range of delicious wines. If you like natural wines, this is definitely the place for you!”
Swedish and freshly baked
Nybakat
“In Nerja, just under an hour from Malaga town, is the cozy, Swedish-owned bakery Nybakat. The owner, an amazing baker called Björn, ran a bakery in Stockholm before moving to Spain with his wife and opening Nybakat. You’ll find wonderful Swedish classics like shrimp sandwiches, cinnamon buns, cardamom buns and classic filter coffee.”
A gastronomic experience
Blossom
“Blossom is a modern fine dining restaurant in central Malaga and definitely worth a visit. The menu offers well-prepared food with a high level of ambition – and the flavors are by head chef Emi Schobert, who previously represented Argentina in the world chef championships, Bocuse d’Or.”
