As the 50th anniversary of Picasso’s death arrives, the whole world celebrates his legacy with Celebración Picasso. We’ve highlighted a few of the activities you won’t want to miss.

On April 8, 2023, it will be 50 years since Pablo Picasso, one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, passed away in Mougins in the south of France. He left behind around 50,000 works of art – everything from paintings and sketches to sculptures and pottery – and is widely considered one of the most important figures in modernism. Picasso’s works were so varied that we divide his art into several distinct periods, including cubism, perhaps the most revolutionary and widely known one.

The global initiative, Celebración Picasso, was launched to raise awareness and celebrate his art. Scandinavian Traveler casts the spotlight on three exhibitions we’ll all be looking forward to.

The Picasso Museum in Paris invites you to attend the colorful and spectacular exhibition Picasso celebration: the collection in a new light!, a collaboration with the British fashion designer Paul Smith. In spite of the fact that Mr. Smith and Mr. Picasso hail from entirely different epochs, there are more than a few similarities between their design philosophies, especially when it comes to how they use playfulness and color.

The exhibition, which is being held from March 7 through August 27, takes a modern approach to celebrating Picasso’s masterpieces. Mr. Smith, the creative director of the exhibit, invites visitors to see the masterpieces from a new perspective that reflects our modern-day society. It’s an innovative, creative, and particularly colorful presentation of Picasso’s works that you won’t want to miss.
